MAGIC is for sale…. Very short story of a great boat The Magic was born in 1972 on commission from Mr. Martini (Bologna - Italy), the aluminum alloy hull was built in the engineer's workshops Dal Fiume, the project is by Sparkman & Stephens and all the fittings are created by the Carlini shipyard (Ravenna - Italy). It is a sailing racer of the time but with the characteristics of an offshore boat, materials and components were of the highest quality and no expense was spared in the construction. The Magic is also well known by Mr. Fabbroni, an italian historic rigger who has followed the development since the first test runs. It was subsequently acquired as a company and then completely taken over by Mr. Umberto Marzotto from whom we purchased it in 2011 for our trip around the world project. Over the years the Magic has been refitted with numerous works which you will find described below. Why we sell Magic We have been living on board for 10 years now, the MAGIC is in order and always ready to go as we like it, we have sailed a lot but it is our home so we try to keep it as efficient as possible, however, given the numerous commitments that we are taking on our age which seems to increase from year to year, for some time we have been thinking of switching to a smaller boat, we will build a small house here in the Azores and we don't have any great passages planned. The Magic now This boat is 50 years old, not a few and like every elderly lady it has some ailments due to age, however the exceptional quality of the materials with which it was built and the continuous updates allow it to still be a very reliable vessel today and comfortable. Our philosophy was to make it functional and safe, details and finishes were not priorities given the use we make of it. Some of the qualities that you will appreciate while sailing, typical of the boats designed by Sparkman & Stephens, are the course stability at all speeds and the excellent seaworthiness even when upwind, which allow you to easily climb the ocean wave, the comfort of the central cockpit low and well protected, the good speed that allows you to easily reach averages of 170-190 NM a day, the robustness of the aluminum hull, the excellent insulation to stay warm in winter and cool in summer even when there are 40 degrees… To whom and how much... It could be of interest to those who want to leave for a long trip, but also to those who love classic boats and want to get involved in restoring it to its former glory and owning a prestigious vessel. However, it is still a beautiful, solid, fast and comfortable boat, perfect for those who want to change their lives and live on board. It's difficult to put a price on it, it depends a lot on the passion of those who would like to have it and we are looking for someone who will fall in love with it just like what happened to us 12 years ago, if you are seriously interested, write to us and we'll talk about it. In any case it is a purely aesthetic problem. - sides the freeboard were filled thickly, we removed part of the filler that tended to lift, what remained is compact and solid but the surface of the sides is not perfectly regular. It would be better to sand the topsides removing the remaining filler. Here too we are talking about an aesthetic problem only. TECHNICAL DOCUMENTATION Despite its age, the boat is accompanied by all the possible documentation for the various electrical and mechanical components, in particular the work done by us, the engine and the diagrams of the electrical and electronic systems are well documented. All the expenses made in these 10 years are documented, and they are quite a few... OUR CONTACTS: e-mail: info@magicsail.it mob: +39 331 3884820 (wsp) Antonino & Lilly | ||
